How Does A Hybrid Car work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Hybrid System: “A hybrid vehicle uses two or more distinct types of power, such as internal combustion engine to drive an electric generator that powers an electric motor” Hybrid cars have risen in sales in the past few years due to them being a low maintenance vehicle that incredibly increases your MPG. The price of gas is the major reason for the rise of the hybrid engines which increases the gas mileage saving you hundred of dollars. Hybrid systems work by using a combination of internal combustions engines and batty to drive and increase fuel economy while reducing emission. When leaving from a stop the electric motor powers the car and driving vehicle up to 15 MPG only uses an electric motor this is why the gas mileage increases in the city. During normal cruising gasoline engines are used because it's more efficient, also during a normal cruise the gasoline engine charges the battery. The hybrid system is a simple way to save money, Here at Bcr Automotive we have many hybrid vehicles to fit your lifestyle.           BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_vehicle.

How do Backup sensors work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Backup Sensors: “Back-up Warning. Alerts you of objects behind your car as you back out of spaces like driveways or parking spots. What It Does: Uses rear sensors to scan for objects behind your car and alerts you if one is detected.” Many vehicles on the market come with this useful feature called a back up sensor which makes a sound when you're getting too close to something or about to crash, this feature was designed by manufacturers to help avoid hitting objects when backing up. There are a few backup sensors and they all work similarly; they use either magnetic or ultrasonic sensors that transmit waves which bounds off objects and when returning they let the computer know how close you are to an object and how big the object is even if the object is moving toward you. Here at Bcr Automotive many of our vehicles come with backup sensors which is an excellent feature to avoid accidents.           BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article: https://mycardoeswhat.org/safety-features/back-up-warning/

Why Do Cars Have Hood Scoops.

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Hood scoop: “A bonnet/hood scoop, sometimes called bonnetairdam/air dam, is an upraised component on the hood of a motor vehicle that either allows a flow of air to directly enter the engine compartment, or appears to do so. It has only one opening and is closed on all other sides.”     When driving on the road you see many cars with vents or hood scoops on their car and have you ever wondered what is the use of them. The primarily use of a hood scoop is to cool the engine so it doesn't heat up too much and in most cases its used to provide cool air to the intake which for a vehicle is important, to produce power the engine requires air to be in the engine to ignite the fuel because without air there is no fire, in other words you need air for the car to run and the cooler the air the better it is for the car.           BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hood_scoop

How does car horn work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Car horn: “A horn is a sound-making device that can be equipped to motor vehicles, buses, bicycles, trains, trams (a.k.a. ... The sound made usually resembles a "honk"). The vehicle operator uses the horn to warn others of the vehicle's approach or presence, or to call attention to some hazard.”     With hundreds of vehicles on the roads today there is one feature that can piss someone off or actually warn them and possibly stop them from ending up in an accident it's called a horn. Car horns are built like a buzzer by having the steel diaphragm acting in one direction while a spring pulls in the opposite direction. This is caused by a current constantly hitting the spring back the other way causing it to vibrate. In other words a horn works by having positive and negative electrogments crash into each other. Here at Bcr Automotive most vehicles come with horns but most importantly they come with everything you need to fit your lifestyle.         BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moped

Car Aerodynamics!

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Aerodynamics: “Aerodynamics is the study of the motion of air, particularly its interaction with a solid object, such as an airplane wing. It is a sub-field of fluid dynamics and gas dynamics, and many aspects of aerodynamics theory are common to these fields.”       In today's world most of the cars on the market take a lot of hours getting perfected from safety, reliability, looks, comfortability and one that most people miss is Aerodynamics which allows our car to have the least amount of drag which increases fuel economy and increase the grip of a vehicle at higher speeds.    How do they make the design of a car aerodynamic?   When a car is designed they are many lines added and many little features most manufacturers design their car more shaped like a bullet so the vehicle can easily break the wind barrier, also they design holes in the bumper like in the grille so the air not only can pass and create less drag but also cool the engine/brakes. Here at BCR Automotive we have a lot of cars with many kinds of aerodynamic designs.         BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerodynamics

How does E-Brake work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

E brake (also known as emergency brake on a vehicle): ”A brake (as on an automobile) that can be used for stopping in the event of failure of the main brakes and to keep the vehicle from rolling when parked.”     An E brake is mechanical hand lever or in some cases it's foot-operated is designed as a back up or emergency brake, an E brake is completely separate from your regular brakes and it controls the rear brakes. It’s designed to keep a parked car stationary, the name for it comes due to most people only using it in an emergency. Parking brake or E brake works by using only cable and lever to operate, when the lever is pulled the cables transmit the necessary force to keep your vehicle in place or to stop the vehicle. Those steel cables are attached to the parking brake which are tightened when pooled, when its pulled the cables compress the brake shoes to stop the car. Parking brake is an important feature in case of an emergency situation because it helps you stop, here at Bcr Automotive we make sure your e brake functions because your safety is important to us.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parking_brake

What are car spoilers for?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Everyday on the road either on our car or one peoples car you see something added on the trunk looks like a wing or as some might say a spoiler, have you ever thought why some cars have it and some don't? In this article I will explain the reason why a spoiler was made, then you can decide why some cars have it and others don’t.     Spoiler: “A spoiler is an automotive aerodynamic device whose intended design function is to 'spoil' unfavorable air movement across a body of a vehicle in motion, usually described as turbulence or drag. Spoilers on the front of a vehicle are often called air dams.”   There are two things spoiler are intended to do either make the car look cooler or actually help the performance of the vehicle. A spoiler is designed to spoil unfavorable air movement across a body of a vehicle in motion, in other words use the air that doesn't do much and guide it to work for you. There are different kinds of spoilers front ones are called air dams. This feature is designed for race cars to improve traction and make the car look cool as well. Here at Bcr Automotive many of your vehicles come with spoilers or we can find someone that will install it for you.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoiler_(car)

Why should you get one you might ask? There are many reasons why you should tint your windows. The main one is a privacy issue so most people don’t see what’s inside your car. Also tint can block harmful UV rays which helps the interior of the vehicle look new which actually will increase your resale value because your interior is in a better shape. Blocks off the heat which means no more awkward sunburns. This feature actually helps glass not shatter in an accident. How does a blow off valve work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Blow off valve: “A blow-off valve, dump valve or compressor bypass valve, is a pressure release system present in most turbocharged engines. Its main purpose is to take the strain off the turbo when the throttle is suddenly released.” In other words, a blow-off valve is something that releases the pressure of a turbo when it's not used.     How does it work?   “A blowoff valve is connected by a vacuum hose to the intake manifold after the throttle plate. When the throttle is closed, the relative manifold pressure drops below atmospheric pressure and the resulting pressure differential operates the blow-off valve piston. The excess pressure from the turbocharger is then vented into the atmosphere or recirculated into the intake upstream of the compressor inlet.” In other words, it opens the valve and releases the pressure not used in vehicles which preserves the turbo.   What's the primary reason we have a blow-off.   The number one reason we have a blow-off valve is to realise the pressure that is not used and can cause harm to the turbo in some cases engine, but the second reason we have it is because it sounds cool. Here at BCR Automotive, our turboed cars come with a blow-off valve, but if you wanted an aftermarket one we would be more than happy to show you where to get one.     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve

How does the dashboard work in a car?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Dashboard: “The panel facing the driver of a vehicle or the pilot of an aircraft, containing instruments and controls.”   Every car on the market has some kind of a dashboard which is designed to tell people some valuable information starting from speed, temperature of the car, and some come with even more like if the tires are low, require an oil change soon or change the radio station. This feature is one the most important features that was added on cars by manufacturers because it tells you the current status of your car and the speed you're moving at and the most important how much gas you have left.     How it works: The speedometer is usually worked by a driven cable that spins inside a flexible tube and the cable is connected on one side to the speedometer while the other side is connected to the gear inside the transmission. Today the speedometer eliminates the cable and uses an electronic sensor to measure wheel speed and send a signal to the dashboard and many other sensors that display other things like tire pressure and more.   Most Common displays on a dashboard:   - Fuel gauge: “In automobile and aircraft engineering a fuel gauge or gas gauge is an instrument used to indicate the amount of fuel in a fuel tank.” - Temperature gauge: Displays the current temperature of the vehicle and will rise if the vehicle doesn’t have enough water or something is not functioning properly. - Speed Gauge: Tells you how fast your vehicle is going, which helps you avoid tickets.     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

1- Jumper cables: Everybody at least once got in the situations where they turn the key but nothing happens, well that is because you got a dead battery and then you go around the store asking people if they have jumper cables. In this situation you can just get small portable jumper cables and just store it in your car just if something goes wrong.   2- First Aid kit: This is one of the most important things each vehicle should have, its should be equipped with many different bandages medications so in case of an emergency it can help you or in some cases might save someone's life.   3- Spare tire: this not only saves you money but also time. If you don’t have a spare tire you in some cases might need to tow your car which will take money/time and don’t forget most of the vehicle comes with a place to store your tires in.   4- Air pump: Sometimes due to changing weather your tires can deflate and if you have a portable pump it will save you a trip to a gas station.    5- Tool kit: Highly recommended by me if something goes a little bit wrong and it's an easy repair like unscrewing something you have some tools to work with.   6- Jack: Most cars come with one but it’s an important item to have because you need to lift the car to change the tire.     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236   www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

I would think twice before crossing off these features of your purchase list!   - All-wheel drive (AWD): “ A drivetrain that employs a front, rear and center differential to provide power to all four wheels of your vehicle” which means you constantly have four tires rotating.   - Four-wheel drive (4WD): “ A drivetrain that employs two differential and a transfer case to provide power to all four wheels of a vehicle” which means you can switch between having four tires rotate at the same time or just having two.   All-wheel drive systems are found on vehicles like Subarus and Honda CR-V’s. Four-wheel drive (4WD) is mostly found in bigger SUV and trucks such as dodges, Toyota’s, Chevy silverados.   The best time you should consider owning a all wheel drive or four-wheel drive vehicle is when you live in a place where there is a lot of mud, gravel roads, rainy weather, snowy conditions, ice on roads, the reason why you should get an AWD/4WD if you have these road conditions is because it improves the handling of the vehicle and might keep you safe in some situations avoiding fatal crashes.    Pros of owning an AWD/4WD   - Better Accelerations as well as better tractions - Better towing capability - Improves handling of the vehicle - Increases resale value of the vehicle incredibly.  Cons of owning an AWD/4WD   - Can bring up the cost of the vehicle up to $3,500 - Lower fuel economy because of higher weight - Higher maintenance cost if something ends up going wrong with the vehicle - Does not help you stop quicker only helps with improving traction   Now you know the difference between an AWD/4WD and some pro and cons about owning them no matter which on you choose we have all the options you might consider         BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

Premium Vs Regular Gas

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

What’s the difference? The main Difference between premium gas and regular gas is the price difference; usually premium gas costs 20 to 30 cents more than regular gas. More scientific difference is the octane (a colorless flammable hydrocarbon of the alkane series, obtained in petroleum refining.) level is 92 or 93 compared to regular gas which is 87. Higher octane gas won’t pre-ignite or explode as quickly which is the reason why is more commonly used in race cars, it works a lot more efficiently then regular gas and releases less emissions.   Why the right grade fuel matters Every car is designed to work better when certain fuel is put in use google or your owner's manual to guide you in the right choice of fuel. If you use a lower octane fuel then recommended the gas may combust too fast for your engine which can cause the engine to make a knocking noise, not only that it will lower the performance as well as lead to engine problems. If you use higher grade fuel on a car that takes regular fuel, the risk of something going wrong is slim. Using a higher grade actually does give any benefits to performance, gas mileage, fuel economy or emissions. Save your money and fill up the right gas.         BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

“THE DIY CAR WASH SOAP ALTERNATIVE.” TheTvBuzz, 19 Oct. 2019, thetvbuzz.com/car-wash-soap-alternative/.   Car washes are often overlooked by everyone, here are 5 reasons why we think you should wash your car.   Dirt: Dirt might not look like it but it's a really damaging factor to a vehicle especially its paint which it can paint to fade away that leads to rust on your vehicle. Salt: If you live in a state that sprays their roads with salt this is highly recommended because salt is known to eat away metal which can cause serious problems to your vehicle even damage the frame in some cases. Keeps you safe: When the vehicle is dirty it's less visible to light which can cause you not being seen in someone's blind spot causing an accident. Improves fuel efficiency: Dirt built up can cause drag and get your car less aerodynamic which can cause lower mpg over time. Better for the environment: Sometimes are vehicles contain harmful chemicals and taking it to the carwash will eliminate it going into our drains.        BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

There are many ways to get pulled over when driving on the road but these are the top 5 ways you can get pulled over and possibly get a ticket. Says:, Rob, et al. “How to Get Autonomous Cars to Pull Over for Police.” Insurance Journal, 26 Feb. 2019, www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2019/02/25/518422.htm.   Passing slow-moving traffic is one of the easiest ways of getting pulled over especially when there all driving at a slower speed because of you more visible by a cop and he knows your most likely speeding. Being the lead speeder is another quick way to get a ticket because your the first one that's caught on the radar and the officer will be after you, but if you pace yourself after someone that’s speeding you’re more than likely to not get seen by the police officer. Driving with bad manners can more than likely get you pulled over so if you’re on your phone swerving lanes, tailgating people, cutting people off you can get your license plate reported to the police which will put a red flag on your driving. Driving a red car or some type of sports car models like Subaru, Audi, BMW, Mercedes and much more. Choosing a bad time to drive poorly, usually, there are more police officers during morning and afternoon rush hour than usual because they go out to respond to a higher value.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

Is Push Button Start Worth it?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Push Button start: “Started off as a feature only offer for the rich in more luxury cars which is a button that start the car after it detects that the key is inside the vehicle then when pressing the button the vehicle gets turned on, it’s a really cool feature because it only allows the car to be started with one key fob and you have to be in park with foot set on a brake.”   Push Button Start Pros The key can be in your pocket and you can start the vehicle without having the need to pull it out. Most push-button starts to come with remote which means you can conveniently warm up your car on a cold winter day It will detect when the key is inside the car which means you can't lock yourself out. Push Button Start Cons If the key is lost its expensive to fix sometimes up to $1,000 If you don't press the button to turn off the car you can accidentally leave it running The battery on the fob can die which will make it difficult to get moving with the car   Now you know some advantages and disadvantages of owning a car with a push-button start. Here at Bcr Automotive, we have vehicles that come with and without push-button start.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://blog.nationwide.com/push-start-cars-technology/ https://www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/

WRX VS STI

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

When shopping for a Subaru vehicle you have many options to choose from that fit variety of lifestyles. One of the most popular models around teen and adult is the Subaru Wrx or the Subaru Sti models. Subaru designed their Subaru Wrx and Sti models not to only look beautiful, but also to provide comfort and sporty feel with enough power to get you flying threw the interception. Both of the Subaru models might look appear the same, however, feel completely different once you under the wheel. In this blog, you will find out the difference between these two vehicles, as well as which one would fit your needs.   The main difference between the two-vehicle that look exactly the same on the outside is the performance of the car. Subaru Sti was built for better performance with upgraded components that do not come on the Subaru Wrx. The Subaru Wrx comes with a 4-Cylinder 2.0L Turbocharged boxer engine capable of producing only 268 horsepower weighing from 3,272 lbs to 3,455 lbs, while Subaru Sti comes with 2.5L Turbocharged boxer engine that produces 305 horsepower and weighing at 3,391lb. Down below we further examine the difference between these two models.   SUBARU STI 2.5L Turbocharged Engine producing 305 horsepower.   Weighing at 3,391 lb.   17 city/ 23 highway miles per gallon.   The big rear wing ads 3 MPH to the car’s top speed.   19-inch wheels.   Leather is standard   290 Lb-ft of torque. SUBARU WRX 2.0L Turbocharged Engine  producing 268 horsepower.   Weighing at 3,272 to 3,455 lbs.   21 city/ 27 highway miles per gallon.   Small Lip spoiler.   17-inch wheels.   Have to go up in package to get leather. 258 lb-ft of torque.   Subaru AWD system    Almost all Subaru vehicles come with their standard AWD system to improve the control of the vehicle on the road as well as the tractions. The Subaru Wrx and Subaru Sti are also equipped with the AWD system which functions by equally distributing the power made by the engine to the from and the rear wheels of the vehicle maximizing the performance. The Wrx, as well as the Sti trip, uses the DCCD system which distributes the power from front wheels or the rear wheels while also using sensors to calculate the slippage of the throttle positions and steering angle determining which wheels need more power to optimize traction.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

Backup camera.

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

“A backup camera (also known as a rear-view camera, reversing camera)” one of the most used features by the American community, also one of the most common features pre-built on most of the vehicles on the road today. This camera is designed specifically to be attached to the rear of the vehicle and a screen on the interior of the vehicle primarily used to aid the vehicle and eliminate rear blind spots. Specifically, this feature was designed to avoid backup collisions. In 2012 backup cameras were available on almost half of the models released that year, then later on adapted by many manufacturers, by May of 2018 all the new vehicle models will come standard with backup cameras for safety reasons. The design of a backup camera works flips the image horizontally so the output of the image is like a mirror. This is necessary because drivers face opposite directions when backing up on a vehicle, without the flip everything would be wise Versa. Typically a backup camera uses a wide-angle fisheye lens to maximize the view of what's behind you and also to see as far as you can behind you. Mostly the camera is pointed toward the ground to have you avoid any rocks or barriers that are not visible through the mirror.   Here at BCR automotive most of our vehicles come with backup cameras if not we will be more than happy to get you to somebody who can install it.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backup_camera

5 Reasons why you should change your oil on time.

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

A new study shows that 22% of all vehicles on the road have low or dirty engine oil which can cause damage to your engine and bring up cost of repairs, the average cost of an oil change is $80-$100 depending on the vehicle, but average repair cost to an engine that had low or bad oil is $3500-$4000 in this article you will find out the 5 reasons it is important to change your oil.   “Oil Change. Done.” Google Docs, Google, docs.google.com/document/d/1tCcu1aaSAHpxNBVs08H1FucbN4VPwG2eHvIurTcfe98/edit?usp=sharing.     5 Reasons it's important to change your engine oil   Engine lubrication: An engine on a vehicle has hundreds of moving components and most of them require lubrication, parts such as pistons, valves and other components that move at high rates of speed under your hood. Due to constant movement creates heat and will wear down engine dramatically without proper oil lubrication causing engine damage. Cools engine components: The oil cools down the components that are moving to make the process smoother and not having any harm to your engine. Removes dirt particles: Sometimes dirt particles appear in the engine which is deadly to the life of your engine and can cause engine failure, the oil helps you break those particles down. Gas mileage: Clean oil improves the gas mileage of the vehicle by 1-2% by having the engine work smoother. Extends life of vehicle: Clean oil extends the life of the engine by not having it overheat or stress the component, which will dramatically increase the life of your vehicle.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.meineke.com/blog/meineke-shares-top-five-reasons-oil-changes-save-vehicles/ https://auto.howstuffworks.com/under-the-hood/vehicle-maintenance/dirty-truth-about-oil-changes.htm

What is a Catalytic Converter?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Catalytic Converter: “Its an exhaust emission control system that controls the toxic engine gases into less toxic gases, used in a vehicle that are gas or diesel-powered”.   Bonnici, David, et al. “What Is a Catalytic Converter?” WhichCar, www.whichcar.com.au/car-advice/what-is-a-catalytic-converter.   The catalytic converter was designed in France in the 19th century when only a few cars were on the roads. The widespread introduction of catalytic converters was in the United State automotive market by the Environmental Protection Agency which strictly controls exhaust emissions to prevent any more damage to our environment. All vehicles starting from 1975 must be equipped with catalytic converter. Catalytic converters are not only standard on cars but there also common on buses, trucks, forklifts, catalytic converter, motorcycles and sometimes wood stoves to control emission. They play a big role in our vehicles and making sure our environment is not damaged. We at Brc Automotive make sure all of our vehicles are equipped with catalytic converters.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalytic_converter https://www.whichcar.com.au/car-advice/what-is-a-catalytic-converter

Why do cars have a trunk?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

A Trunk ( also called a boot, luggage space, luggage compartment) is something that almost every vehicle that on the market has, this feature is usually located on the rear of the vehicle is a space where you can store your belongings or where usually your spare tire/med kit is located. The early design of a trunk was a rack-mounted on the top or rear of the vehicle. Later designs integrated storage in the back of the vehicle while also adding better appearance to the car. The trunk compartment or storage is usually the opposite of the engine. The main reason why a lot of vehicles come with trunks because we don't only use our cars for transportations we also use them to haul things and most of the time with have a lot of personal items that need to be placed somewhere and sometimes interior of the car doesn't have enough room. Here at Bcr Automotive, we understand how important trunk space is so we have a lot of vehicles that will fit your need for space.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trunk_(car)

Why do cars have diffusers?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Cars have many aftermarket parts that can improve your car performance and sometimes looks as well as turbochargers, rims, spoilers, supercharger gears and many more. The front diffuser is actually one of the parts that can improve the performance of your car.      Car Diffuser(also known as lip, front diffuser): ”A car splitter is a modification to the body of the car that is usually attached to the bottom of the front bumper. Splitters look like a flat scoop that extends out from the bottom of the front of the car. Source: Royalbroil. Splitters are often made from carbon fiber or other similar durable materials.”   “The Best Cars in Town !” BCR Automotive Inc | Auto Dealership in Portland, www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/.   How they work. Front car splitter works pretty simple by adding an extension to the front bumper making it lower this helps the car when it reaches high speed the air pressure builds up at the lip and the front bumper which makes it push the vehicle down helping you push the front down more increasing traction of the vehicle. If vehicles don't have a front splitter the air usually goes under the car lifting the vehicle and losing the traction. Many people have an air dam which pushed the extra air to the brakes cooling them. So now you know why a lot of people put front Splitter or lips it not only makes your car look good but it also increases traction here at Bcr Automotive we have many vehicles with front splitters and if we don’t we will be more than happy to recommend you where to get one.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://allfitautomotive.com/blog/car-lip-splitters-what-are-they-and-how-do-they-work-allfit-automotive/

5 reasons why you need to flush your radiator.

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Radiator flush “Your cooling system is what keeps your car from overheating. It works by circulating a mixture of water and coolant through the engine. ... A cooling system flush essentially flushes out the entire system of contaminants and replaces the coolant mixture with fresh coolant and water.” It is an important process in keeping your vehicle in a better condition because the vehicle is made of components that are extremely sensitive to dirt which can cause damage to the operation. When you flush your antifreeze this eliminates the degree that might have got into your radiator over time and you get a new start almost just like an oil change.   “For Shop Owners.” RepairPal.com, repairpal.com/coolant-drain-vs-flush.   Rust and scale deposit start appearing inside the radiator which is something that can cause damage to your vehicle when doing a flush this cleans out the rust and scale deposits. The chemical that’s in an antifreeze actually lubricated the water pump which extends the life of the pump. Over time contaminants get into the radiator when flushing it that will get everything out leaving you with new liquid.  New liquid prevents not only rust but also foam which help it perform more efficiently.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://m.carsdirect.com/car-repair/5-benefits-of-a-radiator-flush https://precisionparis.com/engine-cooling-system/ https://repairpal.com/coolant-drain-vs-flush

SEDAN VS SUV!

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Everyday people struggle with choices on which car to buy, in this article I will give you some information on why you should buy a Sedan or why you should purchase an SUV. “The Best Cars in Town !” BCR Automotive Inc | Auto Dealership in Portland, www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/.   Sedan VS SUV Performance-wise sedans are often equipped with more power, they’re a lot smaller in size then SUV so easier to get around in city find parking spots and just a quicker car. Most Suv is equipped with 4 wheel drive and is a lot higher of the ground which means good if you do a lot of off-roading or you have gravel roads where you live. Room in the sedan is limited usually to 5 seats and a small trunk, but on a Suv you get more room as well as bigger trunks usually. Not only that they come with towing capability so you can tow a small trailer and fit even more stuff into it. Due to size Suv are made with much more metal which makes them more sturdy and in case of an accident much more reliable than a small sedan, but on a sedan, you can swerve easier which can help you avoid car accidents. Depending on your lifestyle the value the car brand might be different sedans usually are cheaper and get a better gas mileage then SUV does. But not everybody has a lifestyle which sedan fits into. The comfort of the vehicle really depends on your preferred choice, if you like sitting up high Suv is a perfect choice for you, if you have kids it’s a lot easier with an SUV because you don't have to lean yourself into the car to buckle them. With a sedan, you can easily get in and out also you can ride a lot lower depending on what you prefer.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.thenest.com/content/suv-vs-sedan-car-buying-tips

Car brakes: “A device for slowing or stopping a vehicle or other moving mechanism by the absorption or transfer of the energy of momentum, usually by means of friction.brakes, the drums, shoes, tubes, levers, etc., making up such a device on a vehicle.” Azuma, Tsukasa. “Useful Brake Maintenance Tips For Your Car.” CAR FROM JAPAN, 9 May 2018, carfromjapan.com/article/car-maintenance/how-to-take-care-of-a-car-brake/.   How do car brakes work?   The brakes are designed in a car because a vehicle has to make a frequent stop because of red lights, pedestrians and traffic. There is two types of brakes that help you stop and keep you safe a disc brake and drum brakes, both use frictions and resistance to convert kinetic energy into heat so, in other words, they rub against the disk or drum slowing it down. The stopping friction is created by the hydraulic system which works by moving fluids through the brake lines to create pressure which presses the brake pads against the rotor and stops the car. All cars have four brakes two in the front and two in the rear. In most cars, front brakes are primarily a response to about 60 to 90% stopping power.        BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.firestonecompleteautocare.com/repair/brakes/how-brakes-work/ https://www.dictionary.com/browse/brake https://carfromjapan.com/article/car-maintenance/how-to-take-care-of-a-car-brake/

Turbos on vehicles are one of the most common features and the best way car manufacturers found to increase the power of your car, while not damaging the good gas mileage that comes on 4 or 6 cylinder cars. Down below I will list the pros and cons of having a turbo vehicle, so you know what to get for your next purchase. “The Best Cars in Town !” BCR Automotive Inc | Auto Dealership in Portland, www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/.   Pros of a Turbo car Increases power of your vehicle. Don’t need to invest in a v8 to get a large amount of power. They run on exhaust power which doesn't really put anything to waste. The cheaper way to upgrade the power of your car. Works only after a certain rpm which can save you fuel. Cons of a Turbo car It’s an expensive feature that requires a lot of work to be put on your car if it doesn’t come standard in it. Additional tubing and wiring which can go wrong. If you spool the turbo too much it can cause loss of gas mileage. It can cause many problems to the vehicle if upgraded or installed unproperly. 10 Ways to make your car faster.

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Every day more and more people are trying to get their cars to go faster. Car manufacturers release vehicles with more horsepower and today we will give you 10 easy ways to make your car faster.   Berry, Richard, et al. “Will Tesla's Roadster Be the World's Fastest Car? Elon Musk Promises Unbelievable Acceleration.” CarsGuide, www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/will-teslas-roadster-be-the-worlds-fastest-car-elon-musk-promises-unbelievable-acceleration.   The best and cheapest way to increase horsepower to your vehicle is by installing brand new spark plugs. “A spark plug is a critical engine component that provides the spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture that drives an engine” which created a spark to ignite the fuel in the engine which creates power.  Air intake which will definitely increase the horsepower of a vehicle because to produce power a car needs fuel and air, the air intake will give you a good amount of cold air for your engine. The exhaust system is the command to producing more power when it’s upgraded there is less resistance of air coming out which increases the power.  The supercharger is another way to increase the horsepower to your car by increasing pressure in the engine block. A turbocharger is another way you can increase horsepower in your car it uses exhaust fumes and compresses them to create more power. Reducing the weight of a car will increase the horsepower the less it weighs the quicker it gets off the line and faster it goes. Increasing the fuel pump will increase the power in your car, the more fuel igniting the more power is created. Good tires will add more grip to you and the asphalt which will get it to take off the line faster. Lighter rims will not only improve the look of your car but also increase your performance because it's less weight in your car. Ecu tuning something that takes off manufacturers restrictions helping you maximize the power out of your car.   At BCR Automotive we have hundreds of vehicles that have most of these upgrades.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article.   http://www.carponents.com/content/the-need-for-speed-20-different-ways-to-make-your-car-go-faster-137 https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/will-teslas-roadster-be-the-worlds-fastest-car-elon-musk-promises-unbelievable-acceleration

Why you should have Tpms Sensors In Your Car.

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Tire pressure monitoring sensor: “A tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is an electronic system designed to monitor the air pressure inside the pneumatic tires on various types of vehicles.TPMS report real-time tire-pressure information to the driver of the vehicle, either via a gauge, a pictogram display, or a simple low-pressure warning light”. If your vehicle is 2008 and newer most models come stock with Tpms sensors which is one of the best safety features out there.”   “TPMS Frequently Asked Questions " John Dow.” John Dow, www.johndow.com/product/tpms-frequently-asked-questions/.   Why should we have TPMS on our tires? Tire pressure monitoring sensor really has one job and it does it really well tell you when your tire has gone flat or lost some Psi. The reason why your Tpms sensor is because tires are like your legs you have to make sure they work to move, also it’s important because a lot of accidents on the roads happen when drivers have deflated tires cause vehicle not to stop quick enough or having a blowout while on the road, Tpms sensor is designed to tell you if there is some issue that happening with the tire which can not only save your tires, vehicle but most importantly it can save your life don't ignore the orange light.   What to do when the light comes on I would recommend pulling over and checking either your dashboard system which will display what tire is flat in some cases or exiting the vehicle and making sure all the tires are good to drive on to the next gas station to get some air and that there isn't any nails or blowouts on the car. This procedure can help keep you and people on the roads safe and might just take a few minutes of your life.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.autocodes.com/warning/tire-pressure-light.php https://www.johndow.com/product/tpms-frequently-asked-questions/

Your car engine oil is like the blood of your vehicle it keeps all the components running smoothly and cools the engine. Oil helps your engine stay cool by helping the engine components run smoother and also oil helps break down any dust particles or dirt that gets into the engine which can be extremely harmful. Now you know why your engine oil protects your engine, when is the perfect time to change it? Down below will be 6 signs that show you need your oil changed.   Witzenburg, Gary. “These Are 6 of the Best Synthetic Oils for Protecting Your Engine.” Car and Driver, 11 Oct. 2019, www.caranddriver.com/shopping-advice/g24400723/best-synthetic-motor-oil/.   Check engine or oil light is one of the most obvious ways to know that you need to change the oil, its a light that comes on in the car when it’s time for the oil to be changed, this feature usually comes in more newer vehicles. Weird sound from the engine that sounds like knocking, the engine provides lubricant but when it’s dirty or low on oil the engine will start making a knocking sound and if not taken care of immediately can be harmful to the car. Color of the oil is also an inductor you can use to know when you need to change it, if the oil is really dark it’s time for a change. Having a smell of oil inside the car is another indicator that your running low on oil. Driving a lot of miles that month is another indicator that you should not only check but also possibly change the oil especially if you have a turbo car check your oil often because turbo vehicles are known to eat a little bit of oil.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.caranddriver.com/shopping-advice/g24400723/best-synthetic-motor-oil/

Turbochargers Vs Superchargers.

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

No matter what you choose, both of those features were designed by engineers to get more power to the engine without having to make the engine bigger. Turbochargers and Superchargers are two of the most common options used in many vehicles on the market such as Dodges, Jeeps, Subarus and more. Today we will give you some pros and cons of having something like that in your vehicle, then the choice is yours.   “Differences between Superchargers vs Turbochargers.” MechStuff, 16 Dec. 2017, mechstuff.com/differences-between-superchargers-vs-turbochargers/.   Turbochargers: “A turbocharger, colloquially known as a turbo, is a turbine-driven, forced induction device that increases an internal combustion engine's efficiency and power output by forcing extra compressed air into the combustion chamber. ... Twincharger refers to an engine with both a supercharger and a turbocharger.”   Superchargers: “A supercharger is an air compressor that increases the pressure or density of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. This gives each intake cycle of the engine more oxygen, letting it burn more fuel and do more work, thus increasing power..”   Turbocharger Pros Increases horsepower Allows small engines to produce more horsepower Runs off energy that would be wasted if there was no turbocharger Supercharger Pros Increases power of the vehicle No lag instant power Not incredibly expensive Don't need high RPMs to get a boost Turbocharger Cons Turbo lag so have to be at certain rpm to get it spooling Requires more oil When kicks in you can it comes all at once which can cause a lot of traction loss. Supercharger Cons Less efficient and are run by the engines which take up more gas It will make your engine less reliable if the internals is not upgraded.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/engineering-explained-the-pros-and-cons-of-turbochargers-vs-superchargers/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbocharger https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercharger http://mechstuff.com/differences-between-superchargers-vs-turbochargers/

Leather Interior or Cloth Interior?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

There are hundreds of options when purchasing a vehicle and one of the most common ones that people have trouble choosing is the interior material. We will give you the pros and cons of both to help you make a better purchase.               Leather Interior  The leather interior can be an additional cost of $1,000 and more depending on the vehicle It makes you look richer because leather used to be considered a luxury back in the day. With a leather interior, you can easily wipe down any spills and clean up any stains. Leather has a pleasant aroma which is liked  by many people Requires to be well maintained or can show wear due to sweat, dust, and dirt making leather look bad in the vehicle Not as comfortable as cloth interior unless it's more of an expensive leather material More sliding in the vehicle because leather is as slippery as ice Has a high desire for the shopper so brings up the value of the vehicle. Reduces odors being stuck in the seats Cloth Interior The cloth interior is a cheaper option  When it's hot outside cloth Interior doesn’t burn you when you get into the vehicle, and is not as cold as leather in the winter With cloth the stains are often permanent, most of the time can be washed off depending on what you spilled. Absorbs odors which can cause an unpleasant smell in your car. Requires maintenance like vacuuming, steam cleaning, treat it like your carpet at home A Lot more comfortable than leather in many cases  in  a cloth interior your more glued to the seat Has a lower resale value then leather because it's not the public's favorite Odors can settle into the fabric which can cause problems to people with allergies   Whichever interior you like the most is your choice, and no matter what you decide to go with we here BCR Automotive Inc have a vehicle for you.

How Does A Tow Package Work!

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Tow Package: “Tow/Haul Defined. "Tow/Haul" mode is a switch that's activated to keep the vehicle's transmission from shifting into overdrive when towing or carrying a load, so as not to lug the engine with a higher gear. It also prevents the transmission from "hunting" between higher gears while trailering.”   “The Best Cars in Town !” BCR Automotive Inc | Auto Dealership in Portland, www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/.   Many vehicles in today's market place have a thing called tow package which is a feature that allows you to tow objects sometimes even vehicles depending on the towing capacity, it usually comes stock on some vehicles or you can get one that’s aftermarket. If a vehicle has a tow package that usually means it has upgraded suspension, engine components and transmission components designed to haul that much weight so the vehicle does not overstress its components and break on you. The transmission will have cooling lines attached to it because when you tow something the transmission will start heating extremely. The vehicle will also come with electronic connections in the back to light up the trailer and a tow hitch where a trailer can be attached. Here at Bcr Automotive Inc, we have many vehicles that come with Tow packages to fit your lifestyle needs.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.boatus.com/magazine/trailering/2013/june/tow-package-or-not.asp https://www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/

Radio: “The transmission and reception of electromagnetic waves of radio frequency, especially those carrying sound messages.”   “The Best Cars in Town !” BCR Automotive Inc | Auto Dealership in Portland, www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/.   There are millions of cars on the road today and most of them come with the feature called mp3 player which gives you options either to play your music, podcasts or just the radio. This feature is used by millions of people every day making it the most used car equipment on the market and just like a regular radio its design is simple.    The antenna received radio waves from the radio stations. The antenna is connected to the tuner which displays which radio station you’re on and something we use to adjust the station. After the tuner comes detector which is “a detector is a device or circuit that extracts information from a modulated radiofrequency current or voltage. The transmitter was switched on and off to produce long or short periods of radio waves, spelling out text messages in Morse code.”  The next comes an amplifier which is an “electronic device for increasing the amplitude of electrical signals, used chiefly in sound reproduction.” The last step to how radio works is a speaker which puts audio out electrical signals into audio using a metal coil which creates a magnetic field.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/radio https://www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detector_(radio)

Manual cars vs Automatic cars!

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Manual Transmission: “Manual transmission is a type of transmission in which the gears are changed by a lever-operated by the driver of a vehicle. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on both engines. The car is available in automatic and manual transmission.”   Automatic Transmission: “a system in a vehicle that changes gears at different speeds without direct control by the driver.”   Rac.co.uk, www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/know-how/automatic-vs-manual-cars-which-is-better/.   Manual Transmission Many drivers find manual cars fun to drive. You can get better gas mileage in some cases. Usually mostly in sports cars. Sometimes the price is cheaper because it’s not desired by many drivers. Less likely to be stolen because not many people can drive manual. Automatic Transmission Easier to use because you don’t have to worry about always switching gears. Better in hilly areas because you don't roll back like on manual transmissions. When stopped at a light low risk of stalling and having people honk in the back. Easier in heavy traffic due to not having to press the clutch. Used in driving schools because it’s easier than a manual.    Here at Bcr Automotive, we have manual and automatic vehicles that will fit any life choice.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/manual-transmission https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/automatic%20transmission https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/know-how/automatic-vs-manual-cars-which-is-better/

How do Headlights work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Headlights Headlights were first introduced in 1880 in more of a lamp version which had to be lit by the driver when it turned dark if you wanted to see something, which wasn't practical because if you forgot your matches or lighter you can’t drive. In 1898 was when the game totally changed because of the introduction of electric headlights which was an option so still not available to the public. In 1912 was the day that Cadillac integrated modern electrical system into automobiles, after that it became standard practice for the vehicle.   “Automotive Chipsets - High-Resolution Headlights.” DLP Automotive Chipset - Headlights | TI.com, www.ti.com/dlp-chip/automotive/applications/headlights.html.   Different types of headlights. Incandescent lamps: Use a filament inside the glass which when heated by electricity produce light, these lights are being replaced by more traditional options. Halogen Headlights: Are the most common headlights used today which is just a bulb, but it converted more energy into heat than light which is not practical a lot of waste of energy. High-intensity Discharge (HID): Hid is the most efficient headlight instead of wasting energy on producing heat it produces just light with less energy. It can last up to 10 years.   What are High-intensity Discharge (HID) lights made  “In these headlights, a mixture of rare metals and gases are heated to produce a bright white glow. These headlights are about two or three times brighter than halogen headlights and can be very annoying to other drivers. They are distinguished by their bright white glow and blue-tinged outline. These headlights are much more energy-efficient, and have brighter output while drawing less energy. The HID headlights draw about 35 watts of power, while halogens and the old incandescents draw about 55 watts. The HID headlights are more expensive to produce though, so are mainly seen on high-end vehicles.”       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-a-vehicle-s-headlights-work http://www.ti.com/content/dam/ticom/images/applications/automotive/high-brightness-DLP-headlights-dm8959.png

How do car batteries work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

A car battery is like a heart it's what gets the blood pumping or in other words gets the electricity to the engine so everything turns on and you get moving. An average car battery will last you for 3-5 years most of us will replace the vehicle by then, but if the batter is not well taken care of it can shorten your battery life drastically.   “Everything You Need to Know About Car Batteries.” Completely Firestone, 22 Nov. 2019, blog.firestonecompleteautocare.com/batteries/everything-you-need-to-know-about-car-batteries/.   How does it work? The battery provides chemical energy into electrical energy which then causes a small joint of electricity to power up the electronics in your car, so if you hear your car not turning that might mean your battery is dead.   Some signs that you might need a new battery. When turning a key it drags and sounds like the vehicle is having a hard time starting in an indication that you need a new battery On some vehicles, if the battery power is low you will get either a check engine light or a battery light up in your dash. If the batter is bloating or swelling it is a good sign that you need to change it as soon as you can because it can start a leak which may cause damage to car components and your skin if touched. If you get a smell from the engine bay which most likely smell like rotten eggs will be another sign that the battery is running low       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://blog.firestonecompleteautocare.com/batteries/everything-you-need-to-know-about-car-batteries/ ww.bcrautomotiveinc.com

How does a car alarm work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Before car alarm systems cars were stolen out of people's driveways on a daily basis then parted out, in fact, there were about 3.7 million automotive-related break-ins that happen every year. This increasingly decreases over the years when alarm systems got introduced to the car market. Some say crime rates still happen but because of an alarm system, they decreased an incredible rate over the years which is a good sign letting us know that they work. There several different types of alarm systems but they all have the same goal to keep your car in your driveway and not stolen.   Firstech. “How Much Does a Car Alarm / Security System Cost?” Compustar, 11 June 2018, www.compustar.com/blog/how-much-does-a-car-alarm-security-system-cost/.     Alarm system Basics There are many kinds of alarm systems the most common alarm systems today are made up of a computer that receives and responds to your keycode and is connected to a loudspeaker and different kinds of sensors around your car. The way it works is pretty simple when sensors don't receive any unusual activity they remain silent but active, only when the sensors are activated the alarm will sounds. Older cars have just a few sensors but never cars can have up 10 or more sensors.   CAR ALARM SENSORS Newer cars have many sensors that they respond to break-ins, damage impact, or loud noise around the vehicle these sensors are designed to scare and notify the owner that someone is messing with their car. Door Sensors: This is the most common one used across all the vehicles on the market they are triggered when the car is locked and the door opens the alarm will sound but it will not stop the burglar from breaking the window getting in your vehicle. Impact sensors: It is more common on newer vehicles which are a little better the door sensors because it senses if any window is smashed or there is any manage to the car which is super useful.  Tilt Sensors: Are sensors that activate when the vehicle is lifted in case someone wants to tow your car or flip the vehicle the sensors will activate and let you know.       BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

How does GPS work in a car?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

GPS: “GPS, which stands for Global Positioning System, is a radio navigation system that allows land, sea, and airborne users to determine their exact location, velocity, and time 24 hours a day, in all weather conditions, anywhere in the world.”   “The Best Cars in Town !” BCR Automotive Inc | Auto Dealership in Portland, www.bcrautomotiveinc.com/.   GPS a system that in almost every car on the market today it’s designed to show you where to go as well as to tell you where you are, it's a digital map used by many even on the phone. This feature was developed by the U.S. Department of Defense. The system works by the transmission of microwave signals to the satellites orbiting around the earth, it transmits not only the location but the speed and direction of which the vehicle is moving. Initially, this feature was designed only for military use but then later on adopted by civilians and is one of the most common features used today. Some GPS not only tell you your route but also can tell if there is any traffic or any kind of obstacles down the road. In my opinion, its one of the most revolutionary features currently in your car because it saves you time by giving you alternate routes saving you time and giving you arrival estimates.     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://www.gis2gps.com/GPS/GPSDEF/gpsdef.html www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

How does our car engine work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Engine: “The purpose of a gasoline car engine is to convert gasoline into motion so that your car can move. Currently, the easiest way to create motion from gasoline is to burn the gasoline inside an engine. Therefore, a car engine is an internal combustion engine”   “Engine.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 11 Dec. 2019, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine#/media/File:Mercedes_V6_DTM_Rennmotor_1996.jpg.   There are hundreds of gasoline cars on the market today and they all work pretty much the same, some might have extra mods added to the engine which increases the performance on the vehicle. There are 4 simple steps an engine takes to work which are listed below.   “Intake: The piston (green) is pulled down inside the cylinder (gray) by the momentum of the crankshaft (gray wheel at the bottom). Most of the time the car is moving along, so the crankshaft is always turning. The inlet valve (left) opens, letting a mixture of fuel and air (blue cloud) into the cylinder through the purple pipe.” “Compression: The inlet valve closes. The piston moves back up the cylinder and compresses (squeezes) the fuel-air mixture, which makes it much more flammable. When the piston reaches the top of the cylinder, the sparking plug (yellow) fires.” “Power: The spark ignites the fuel-air mixture causing a mini-explosion. The fuel burns immediately, giving off hot gas that pushes the piston back down. The energy released by the fuel is now powering the crankshaft.” “Exhaust: The outlet valve (right) opens. As the crankshaft continues to turn, the piston is forced back up the cylinder for a second time. It forces the exhaust gases (produced when the fuel burned) out through the exhaust outlet (blue pipe).”     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com     Links used in this article. https://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm https://www.explainthatstuff.com/carengines.html www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

How Blind Spot Sensors work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

Every day we are on the road driving big or small cars trying our best to navigate our vehicles around traffic, but we can’t always see every corner of the vehicle which sometimes causes accidents. This is why most car manufacturers equip vehicles with awesome features that help you avoid little or larger accidents. There are many features that help you avoid accidents such as blind spot sensors, back up cameras, side mirrors and more. But today we are going to be talking about blind spot sensors.   “Blindspot.” Car Tunes Mobile Entertainment, cartunesstereo.com/blindspot/.   Blind Spot Sensors: “The blind spot monitor is a vehicle-based sensor device that detects other vehicles located to the driver's side and rear. Warnings can be visual, audible, vibrating, or tactile. However, blind-spot monitors are an option that may do more than monitor the sides and rear of the vehicle.”   Blindspot sensors actually rely on sensors to detect on approaching vehicles which were actually at first developed by Volvo in 2003 to make cars safer, since then most manufacturers adopted this new feature. This feature works by either radar or a computer version sensors to detect other vehicles coming closer to you from left or right when a vehicle gets too close to you a light will turn on in the vehicle and if you try to twitch lanes it will start blinking fast and get your attention, of course, different cars have different indications. Blindspot sensors is actually a simple feature but yet so effective in helping people avoid crashes because they miss a few cars, here at Bcr Automotive we have many vehicles that have blind-spot sensors.     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com   Links used in this article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_spot_monitor https://cartunesstereo.com/blindspot

How does suspension work?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

MOOG. “Can You Drive a Car with Damaged Suspension?” MOOG Parts , 2018, www.moogparts.eu/blog/drive-car-with-broken-suspension.html.   Suspension: “ Suspension is the system of tires, tire air, springs, shock absorbers and linkages that connects a vehicle to its wheels and allows relative motion between the two. Suspension systems must support both road holding/handling and ride quality, which are at odds with each other.” Vehicle performance not only depends on horsepower or torque but also on the car’s suspension components because the suspension is what helps it steer and absorb our bumpy roads. If the roads today were perfectly smooth without any bumps we would not need suspension, but since there are bumpers and potholes suspension helps us get a smooth ride. It works by maximizing the friction between the tires and the road to provide steering ability and handling, also suspension provides comfort. The suspension is made out of chassis, the spring which absorbs and reduces excess energy, along with the struts and the last item would be an anti-sway bar which shifts the movement of the wheels and stabilizes the car. To have it provide the best comfort and handling your suspension has to be in good condition.     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

These systems include features such as Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Sway Warning and Pre-Collision Braking.    Subaru Canada, Inc. “Subaru EyeSight: Safety Is Always in Focus.” Subaru EyeSight - Subaru Technology - Subaru Canada, www.subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?WebSiteID=284&WebPageID=18112. Pre-collision Throttle Management helps reduce engine output when EyeSight detects a vehicle or other object directly ahead. This helps prevent the driver from accidentally accelerating too quickly and hitting the object in front of them.   Adaptive Cruise Control is a great addition to an already commonly used feature in cars that is cruise control. This is a feature that controls the speed of your car based on what speed you set it to and with EyeSight, your Subaru is able to adjust the speed at which you are traveling based on the distance between you and other vehicles. You can select this distance based on how close or far you would like to stay behind other vehicles and EyeSight will automatically brake or accelerate to keep that distance consistent.    Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning is another great feature provided by EyeSight. Sway Warning keeps track of the lines on the roads and alerts the driver, should they start steering out of their lane. Lane Keep Assist has the ability to gently adjust your steering in order to keep you safely in the center on your lane.   Pre-collision Braking is a feature that uses EyeSight to detect if a vehicle is braking or slowing down quickly ahead and alerts the driver to prevent a collision. If the driver does not respond quickly enough, the system can also gently apply the brakes.   The EyeSight safety technology features are all able to be turned on and off within the vehicle and used when the driver would like the extra set of eyes looking out for them on the road. EyeSight has even been shown to reduce the rate of rear-end crashes by 85% in Subaru vehicles! Why Do All Vehicles Have VIN numbers?

VIN Number: The car's vehicle identification number (VIN) is the identifying code for a SPECIFIC automobile. The VIN serves as the car's fingerprint, as no two vehicles in operation have the same VIN. A VIN is composed of 17 characters (digits and capital letters) that act as a unique identifier for the vehicle.”   The main reason why vehicles on today’s market have a 17 character VIN number is the same reason why people have social security numbers. No two cars built at least 30 years apart can have the same VIN number. This is because there are thousands of similar vehicles in the world and a VIN number is how we can identify each different one.    Places where you can find the VIN number of a vehicle are usually in the corner of your windshield, inside the driver side door, or pillar. Some vehicles that are considered “high theft” also have the VIN number on major parts such as the engine or hood. Obtaining the VIN number is also a great way to find out the previous history of a vehicle. This can include the service records, previous accidents, as well as other useful information. A VIN number is also required in places such as the DMV or by your insurance company when you are protecting your new vehicle.    VIN number break down: 1HGBH41JXMN109186   This number identifies the nation where the vehicle was assembled. For example, vehicles assembled in the USA can have either a 1, 4 or 5 depending on the region. These next two numbers identify the manufacturer's name. Each manufacturer has their own unique ID. The next 4-5 numbers describe the vehicle including things like the make, model, and body of the vehicle among other details about the engine. This number represents the manufacturer's security code. The 10th digit represents the year a vehicle was assembled. Every year has a unique character that all VIN numbers use. This next number shows the factory or plant that the vehicle was assembled at. The last 5 numbers of the VIN are like the serial or sequence number of a vehicle. These help identify the vehicle itself.     BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com

What Type Of Power Train Option Is Best for Driving in the Snow or Ice?

“Tips For Driving in Adverse Winter Weather Conditions.” Colonial Driving School, 5 Feb. 2018, https://colonialdrivingschool.com/blog/tips-driving-adverse-winter-weather-conditions/.     With winter weather quickly approaching, it is now more important than ever to find a vehicle that can handle the snow, ice and rain safely. Good snow tires and a safe driver are the keys to a safe trip, and picking a car with the right drive is what will help make all that easier.   All wheel drive (AWD) is a system that is most often advertised as the safest option for difficult weather and for good reason. When driving in snow or ice, the main goal to keep good control of the vehicle is good traction. Traction is how much grip your tires have with the road beneath them. In AWD vehicles, the system can determine which wheels have the most traction and send the most power to those. It can also determine, in the case of slipping or loss of control, which tires are slipping and reduce the amount of power being sent to those wheels.    With rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles, all the power goes to the back wheels and with front wheel drive (FWD) all of it goes to the front. This is good to keep fuel costs down and while can handle most moderate weather conditions fairly well, they lack the advanced traction system that AWD systems can provide in more severe winter weather. 4-wheel drive (4WD) is also a good option as generally 4WD vehicles are RWD until 4WD is needed. Some systems have the driver in control of when to switch from RWD to 4WD, others have an automatic system that engages the front wheels when slippage or loss of control is detected. In a permanent 4WD vehicle, all wheels receive power at all times.   As far as severe weather conditions driving goes, it is better to stick with an AWD or 4WD system however no matter which drive you choose, a good set of snow tires and attentiveness to the road is the best way to maximise the safety of any system. Why Should You Buy a Subaru WRX / WRX STI?

icon/user/avatar/20 Created with Sketch. By Viktor Kalutsky

There is no doubt that any Subaru is a great and reliable car to drive, but is a Subaru WRX / WRX STI the right car for you? Here are some things to consider before buying this car. Stafford, Eric. “2020 Subaru WRX STI Review, Pricing, and Specs.” Car and Driver, Car and Driver, 23 Oct. 2019, https://www.caranddriver.com/subaru/wrx-sti.           1. Powertrain  The base Subaru WRX comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat four making it 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This comes in the convenient CVT transmission for more comfortable traffic driving or in a 6 speed manual for a more sportier feel. While this is plenty of power for most people, drivers will appreciate the WRX STI upgrade to a 2.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 310 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. With this much power these cars are not the most fuel efficient on the market but you will enjoy every mile driven to the fullest.            2. All Weather Driving While most sports cars tend to get put away during the winter months due to less than ideal road conditions, this is where the Subaru WRX shines the most. These cars come standard with AWD which make handling in the snow or rain especially easy. Even if choosing to hit the gas pedal a little harder, the Subaru WRX still feels extremely steady and the upgraded suspension of the WRX STI model allows you to rip around corners smoothly.            3. Interior / Exterior  The Subaru WRX / WRX STI is a headturner. You can’t not notice these cars as they drive down the road. These cars feature a sleek and sporty look that is designed to catch the attention of spectators. However, this does not mean you have to sacrifice functionality. The Subaru WRX / WRX STI features a compact design that can seat 5 people very comfortably and a large trunk for any transporting needs. This along with the user friendly controls make this not only a great rally car, but also a wonderful car for families.              4. Safety  Subaru is known for the safety and reliability of their rides. The WRX / WRX STI is no exception. There are numerous features that help protect the driver and their passengers, some of which are automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The newer models also include LED Steering Responsive Headlamps and blind-spot monitoring to ease the strain of night or bad weather driving.   In conclusion, there are many great reasons to own a Subaru WRX / WRX STI. These are cars made with the driver in mind and provide many great benefits. If the above features seem like a car that you would like to drive, contact BCR Automotive so we can help you find this amazing car for the best price!   BCR Automotive Inc. 971-444-9945 12649 SE Division St, Portland OR 97236 www.bcrautomotiveinc.com
